Everything we do is focused on maximising lasting independence.
Orpheus is an independent specialist college in Surrey that increases the confidence and skills of young disabled adults through the performing arts. We believe that every young disabled person should have the same opportunities as their non-disabled peers. We offer a holistic learning programme, a supported housing scheme and a domiciliary care service.
Our students are between the ages of 18 and 25 and have learning and/or physical impairments. They usually stay at Orpheus for three years. We have 27 residential students and around 20 day students learning functional skills such as literacy, numeracy and IT alongside song-writing and performing. Our students have performed all over the country at venues such as Glastonbury, Buckingham Palace and the Paralympics opening ceremony. We offer City and Guilds qualifications as well as nationally accredited Arts Awards.
Over the past fifteen years Orpheus has transformed the lives of hundreds of young people and their families. Our goal is for young disabled people to have the skills and opportunities they need so that they can
lead fulfilling and independent lives.
“The work of the Orpheus Centre never fails to impress me and I am proud to be a supporter.”
