The Frontline Walk

Challenge type: Trek in support of ABF The Soldiers' Charity

Destination: France

Runs from : 4th October 2017 to 15th October 2017

 Highlights :

  • Trek for 3 days in the footsteps of those who fought 100 years ago  
  • A 100km walk across the World War One battlefields of France and Belgium with a historian
  • The top three fundraisers will have the opportunity to be part of the Soldiers’ Charity Frontline Walk team to lay a wreath at the Menin Gate, a once in a life time chance to take part in the emotional final salute to the fallen

4 nights accommodation

Day 1 - We depart London late morning by coach and catch the ferry from Dover to Calais then on to our overnight accommodation in Arras in time for dinner. There will be a short briefing on tomorrow's walk.

Day 2 - We have an early morning transfer via coach to the start of the Battle of the Somme. We walk 35km to Arras passing cemeteries commonwealth, French and German soldiers and return to the hotel for our overnight stay.

Day 3 - We leave our hotel and walk 35km to Neuve Chapelle, where British forces attempted to break through the German trenches. Return by coach to Arras.

Day 4 - Today is our final day as we transfer to the frontline and walk the final 33km to Ypres. We will transfer to our hotel in Roeselare to get ready for the evening events. The coach will take us to the celebratory meal in the centre of Ypres, we then head to Menin Gate for the Ceremony of the Last Post, played everyday since 1927, where you may get the opportunity to lay a wreath at the gate.

Day 5 - After breakfast, we will have a free morning before departing by coach to Calais and return to London.

Registration fee: £150.00 per participant.

We ask you to commit to raising £1,250 to help soldiers, veterans and their families.
