Itinerary

Day 1 - Bristol to Salisbury, 95km approx.

We cycle out of Bristol amidst much fanfare and excitement.  We are soon riding along the leafy lanes of Somerset with a couple of large climbs early on.  It is a pretty area of rolling hills, wild moorlands and ancient woodlands.  We pass through many historic towns and villages en-route to Salisbury where we stop for the night.

Day 2 - Salisbury – Portsmouth, 80km approx.

We set off on gently undulating terrain towards Portsmouth. Before long we find ourselves in the glorious countryside. Once over these beautiful hills we will have Portsmouth well and truly in our sights.

We arrive at Portsmouth at approx 19.30 and enjoy dinner together. Our ferry departs at approx 22.45 for the overnight crossing to France. Cabins are booked for the group.

Day 3 - Caen – Évreux, 140 km approx.

This morning we arrive by ferry in Caen having had breakfast on board. We wheel our bikes off the ferry and set off through historical Normandy. Caen is the capital of Basse Normandie, the location of the D-Day landings in June 1944.

Much of the morning is spent cycling through small towns and villages. The terrain will be mostly flat roads and we stop for a break & refreshments every 20km or so. After approx 85km we break for lunch in a typical Normandy restaurant.

This afternoon we continue through the villages of Barc and Parville towards Evreux, our overnight stop. Evreux is situated in the pleasant valley of the river Iton, and its cathedral is one of the largest and finest in France. This evening we are bound to celebrate today's achievement over a glass or two of French wine in these picturesque surroundings!

Day 4 - Évreux – Paris, 120km approx.

This morning we leave Evreux in an easterly direction bound for Paris and a beautiful days' cycling. Normandy is known for its bocage, farmland criss-crossed with hedges and trees and we are soon cycling amongst this type of rural landscape.

The terrain is hillier today and we are soon tackling some steep uphills on our approach to Paris. As we progress through the day, our surroundings start to change and we enter the suburbs of Paris, stopping for lunch after around 80km.

We enter the centre of Paris and the excitement builds as we approach the final stages of our challenge. Continuing along the wide boulevards of Paris we find ourselves in front of the Eiffel Tower, Paris’ most impressive & recognisable landmark and the finishing point for our bike ride.

After crossing the finish line we continue to our hotel & tonight we enjoy a well-deserved celebratory meal.

Day 5 - Paris to London

This morning is free for you to explore Paris independently. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in the world – Notre Dame, the Champs Elysées, Arc de Triomphe, Montmartre, Sacré Coeur, Musée d’Orsay …there is so much to see and do.

In the afternoon we catch the Eurostar from the centrally located Gare du Nord back to London St Pancras.  On arrival at London we can collect our bikes and make our way home with memories of a great challenge.
